Girls’ cagers return to winning ways
A 69-32 win at Belle Plaine sent the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team into the holiday break with a winning record at 4-3.
The Panthers wasted little time in going up large on the host Tigers, a fellow Section 2AA competitor, taking a 42-17 halftime lead en route to the 37-point victory.
Guards McKenna and Maddie Monahan led GSL with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Guard Olivia Lemke scored seven points while backcourt mate Molli Cacka as well as the forwards Mickalyn Frahm and Kendra Ziebarth recorded six points apiece.
The win upped the Panthers’ sectional record to 4-2 on the season, with two more 2AA games to come before the squad delves into Wright County Conference West play.
