Girls' basketball remains in thick of WCC West race
After going 1-1 against its fellow Wright County Conference West frontrunners last week, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team entered this week in second place in the conference standings with a 4-1 WCC West record.
A 64-55 loss at current conference leader Watertown-Mayer on Tuesday, Jan. 16, ended the Panthers’ four-game winning streak and dropped GSL out of the WCC West’s top spot.
Guard Mac Monahan led all scorers with 23 points and recorded five steals, but the Panthers could not climb out of a 35-27 halftime hole in the nine point loss.
Guard Miah Monahan tallied 17 points with seven rebounds and three steals; forward Mickalyn Frahm scored seven points and joined guard Olivia Lemke with six rebounds on the night.
GSL got back in the win column three nights later, defeating visiting Annandale 48-40 after a topsy-turvy second half.
