Girls' CC fourth in WCC West race

Led by an all-conference finish by junior Maddie Lemke, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ cross-country team earned a fourth-place finish in the Wright County Conference West championship meet, held at Gale Woods Farm in Minnetrista on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
Lemke paced the Panthers with an 11th-place finish. She completed the 5,000-meter course in a time of 21 minutes, 35.79 seconds to earn her All-WCC West laurels.
The team also claimed three All-WCC West Honorable Mention awards, which were earned by Megan Siewert, Ellie Schmidt and Malayh Metcalf.
Siewert placed 16th in a time of 22:12.64, Schmidt was 18th in 22:24.27 and Metcalf took 22nd in 22:46.99.
Abigale Boetel earned GSL’s final points of the meet with a 34th-place time of 23:56.22.
Also running for the Panthers were: Kianna Dolezal (39th, 24:36.31) and Majkya Metcalf (51st, 26:37.57).
As a team, GSL recorded 101 points in finishing fourth. Dassel-Cokato was third with 95, while Mound Westonka was fifth with 113. Annandale won the meet with 31 points; Rockford was second at 54.
Up next for the Panthers is the Section 2A meet, which is scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday at the Riverside Town and Country Golf Course in Winnebago.
