Girls golfers are optimistic about challenging top teams
It’s been mostly sunny this spring for the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls golf team. That forecast applies not only to the early-season weather the Panthers enjoyed as they prepared for the season, but also the outlook for the 2015 campaign.
“We’re really excited this year,” coach Scott Eckhoff said. “We have the entire team coming back. Our strength this season should be our experience.”
GSL finished third in the final Wright County Conference West standings last season, behind perennial circuit powerhouse Litchfield and second-place Annandale. Eckhoff said that with a bit more consistency in their game, the Panthers could improve on last year’s finish.
“Annandale and us battled for second last year and we ended up taking third,” he said. “We think we are right there with the top two or three teams again this year – we’ll be real strong.”
