Girls' soccer seeking elusive second win

It was another difficult week for the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ soccer team as the Panthers went goalless in their last three games and have now failed to score in nine of their 13 games this season.

A home game against Hutchinson on Tuesday, Sept. 29 was particularly heartbreaking for the Panthers. After more than 79-1/2 minutes of scoreless play, the Tigers tallied the breakthrough tally on a long arcing goal that soared into the GSL net with just 27 seconds remaining in regulation time.

It was as close to a draw that the Panthers would get, as GSL fell 8-0 at Wright County Conference-leading Orono on Thursday, Oct. 1 and 5-0 to New Ulm in the final game of the season at Stevens Seminary Stadium on Monday, Oct. 5.

The Panthers have one final regular-season game remaining this autumn, with the squad traveling to face Jordan at 7 p.m. Thursday. Jordan is 1-8-1 on the year, compared with GSL’s 1-9-3 overall record.
