Givens’ trial completed, judge to render verdict

A court trial for Emily Louise Givens of Prior Lake, who is facing three charges in connection with the death of Glencoe resident Penny Verdeck in April 2015, was recently completed in McLeod County District Court.
Givens is facing a felony count of criminal vehicular homicide resulting in death, a misdemeanor count of careless driving, and a misdemeanor count of unlawful use of an electronic device while driving.
Givens was driving a vehicle on April 26, 2015, which struck and killed Verdeck as she rode her bicycle just north of Glencoe.
Givens waived her right to a jury trial, and the court trial was heard by District Court Judge Timothy Looby June 28-30.
Looby has taken the testimony under advisement and had not rendered a verdict when this issue of The Chronicle went to press.
