Glencoe’s ‘Little Library’ first in the area

Anne Twiss of Glencoe had a grandmother and great grandmother who were librarians, who passed on gently used books to her.
She says books were a treat for her the way sweets were treats for other children. Twiss’ passion for reading has definitely been passed on to her daughters.
“Reading has always been a real joy in my life,”  said Twiss. This is a love she now hopes to share with people outside her family. This passion for reading is what inspired Twiss to start a Little Free Library in her own yard in Glencoe.
Started in Wisconsin, the Little Free Library is a worldwide organization that provides free book exchanges. Twiss first noticed them in St. Paul around St. Thomas University. Each library has to be registered and must pay a registration fee.
The Little Free Library can look any way you like, and Twiss’ brother created a small house to place at the end of the her driveway.
