Glencoe, area voters stick with winners in GOP, DFL primary

Voters in last Tuesday's Republican and DFL primary elections mostly favored the overall winners, regardless of whether or not their candidates were the favored choices of the respective political parties.
Voters favoring for Republicans in the Aug. 14 primary election in the state and congressional races primarily stuck with the candidates endorsed by the party. Mitzi Shimanksi, chairperson of the McLeod County Republicans, was concerned former Gov. Tim Pawlenty might win after snubbing the party’s endorsing process.
“Jeff’s much more conservative than he (Pawlenty) is,” Shimanski said. “Anytime you go to a primary, there’s always a concern.”
