Glencoe to be featured at county fair
The 144th annual McLeod County Fair will open Wednesday, Aug. 17, and run through Sunday, Aug. 21.
Each day has a theme, and the Friday, Aug. 19, theme is “Celebrating Community,” with Glencoe as the featured community this year.
On that day, Mayor Randy Wilson will present a history of Glencoe at 1 p.m., Jim Benson will give a presentation on the Glencoe Airport and Charles Lindbergh at 2 p.m., a history of Green Giant/Seneca will be presented by Lori Pickell-Stangel at 3 p.m., and Mike Gavin will give a presentation on Stevens Seminary at 4 p.m. All of those presentations will be on the Millerbernd Manufacturing Legacy Stage.
Other theme days are Wednesday, Aug. 17, “Celebrating Senior Citizens;” Thursday, Aug. 18, “Celebrating Agriculture;” Saturday, Aug. 20, “Celebrating Kids;” and Sunday, Aug. 21, “Celebrating Health & Wellness,” sponsored by Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Featured throughout the week are 4-H exhibits and competitions, open class competitions, entertainment throughout each day, midway rides, display booths in the commercial building, live music, supercross and autocross, and much more.
