Glencoe couple injured in accident

Leroy Francis Penas, 81, and Judith Ann Penas, 75, of Glencoe, were injured in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 22 and Airport Road near Hutchinson just after 4 p.m. Thursday.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Tyler Mark Tenney, 31, of New Germany, was southbound on Highway 22, and Leroy Penas was driving a 2012 GMC Acadia that had stopped at a stop sign on Airport Road and then pulled out. Tenney saw the GMC pull out, but wasn't able to react in time, and the Suburban struck the Acadia on the driver's side.
Leroy and Judith Penas were both taken by ambulance to the Hutchinson hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Tenney was not injured. All three were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor, according to the state patrol.
Assisting the state patrol at the scene were the Hutchinson police and fire departments, McLeod County Sheriff's Office, and Allina Ambulance.
