Glencoe driver involved in Highway 212 accident
James Gildea, 40, of Glencoe, and Ryan C. Miller, 27, of Winsted, had minor injuries after a two-vehicle accident on Highway 212 near Powers Driver in Carver County this morning.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2007 Buick LaCrosse was westbound on HIghway 212, lost control on the bridge over Bluff Creek, went though the median into the eastbound lanes of Highway 212, where it was struck by a 2002 Ford van driven by Gildea. The driver of the Buick sustained fatal injuries, and the State Patrol will not release the name until Tuesday at 8 a.m., according to its website.
Miller was a passenger in Gildea's van. Both men were described as having non-life-threatening injuries, but neither was transported to a hospital, according to the State Patrol. Both were wearing seat belts, and the air bags deployed. The Buick was considered a total loss, and the van had severe damage.
The highway was shut down while the accident was investigated and the scene cleared.
The accident was reported at about 7:30 a.m.
