Glencoe girl, ‘Cash’ take top honor at 4-H state dog show
She doesn’t enter dog shows just to win ribbons. It’s the time with her the dog before and during the shows that is worthwhile to Elise Betcher.
The Glencoe teen and her miniature American shepherd recently won grand champion honors in obedience and a blue ribbon in rally at the Minnesota 4-H State Dog Show at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
Betcher is the daughter of Rhonda and Tim Betcher. She’s a member of the McLeod County 4-H Club and an eighth-grader at Glencoe-Silver Lake Junior High School. Elise has been in 4-H since she was in fourth grade.
Celebrating National 4-H Week, Oct. 7-13, Betcher is the historian in the Glencoe Junior Pioneers 4-H Club. She said the club and its members perform community service projects, go on educational tours and enjoy fun activities together. Participation in 4-H, she said, has provided Betcher with friendships, leadership skills, and opportunities to learn and give back to the community.
