Glencoe looks to future work on 10th Street
Although ground-breaking is still a year or two away, the Glencoe City Council took some of its first steps for a significant street-improvement project Monday, May 4, when it OK’d an engineering agreement for work on East 10th Street.
The proposed project includes significant resurfacing work to a one-mile stretch of East 10th Street, between North Hennepin Avenue and Morningside Drive. The street faces significant deterioration in several areas of the one-mile stretch.
John Rodeberg, the city’s contract engineer from Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH Inc.) said the ruts where lanes have settled range from a quarter-inch to a full inch. Manhole covers have also settled.
The council OK’d a $36,400 agreement with SEH for consulting work on the project. The work also includes checking the condition of the road bed below pavement as well as managing a funding agreement with the federal government.
