Glencoe man’s fight with MS a selfless effort he won’t give up

He’s never been one to give up, not when was seriously hurt during a high school basketball game and not when his doctor told him he has multiple sclerosis.
Kevin Pries is working to help researchers find a cure for the disease that has changed his life as well as his mother’s life. Pries was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 14 years ago. His mother, Joan, has lived with it since 1998.
Pries and friends are hosting the fifth annual fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 8, 4-8 p.m., at the Glencoe VFW Post at 923 Chandler Avenue. A donation covers all the pork sandwiches you can eat. A silent auction and door prizes are part of the festivities. Proceeds will go to the Wisconsin Chapter of the National MS Society.
He hopes to raise $10,000 for research toward a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Joan Pyfferon is confident her son and his friends will reach their goal.
“I think he’ll do a fantastic job,” she said. “He’s really into helping people who have MS.”
Pries was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2004 when he couldn’t pass a physical. He couldn’t hold his balance standing on one leg. It was a condition that troubled Pries and left him wondering what could possibly be wrong.
