Glencoe one game from state berth

After suffering a sizable defeat in its Region 7C Tournament opener, the Glencoe Brewers kept their postseason hopes alive with a clutch victory to advance to the final weekend of regional play.

The tournament did not open kindly for seventh-seeded Glencoe, as No. 2 seed Waconia 10-runned the Brewers, 13-3, in seven innings on Saturday, Aug. 6, in St. Bonifacius.

The Lakers exploded for eight runs over the first two innings to all-but put the game away not long after it began.  After Glencoe outscored the opposition 2-1 over the middle frames, Waconia made their win official and brought the contest to an early end with a four-run seventh. Starting pitcher Derek Bratsch took the loss.

The Brewers mustered up just four hits in the contest, with Teddy Petersen, Gannon Jordahl, Tyler Chap and Brandon Ebert logging one hit apiece – Chap’s double was Glencoe’s lone extra base hit.

Chap and Jordahl logged one RBI apiece, with Petersen, Ebert , Chap and Brody Bratsch scoring one run each to account for the Brewers’ scoring on the afternoon.

Facing the prospective end of its season, Glencoe faced Carver in an elimination game the next afternoon.
