Goal for Nov. 19 Glencoe blood drive: 124 units

To the Editor:
We are at two weeks and counting down!
The Glencoe Community Blood Drive is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 1 to 7 p.m., at the Glencoe City Center ballroom.
This is our third and last blood drive of 2014 and the American Red Cross has set our goal at 124 units. We fell slightly short of our goal at our July blood drive; we hope to make and even surpass the goal set for us this time.
The need for blood and platelets is constant and your contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply.
Many slots on the November donor schedule have already been pre-reserved at our last blood drive in July.  If you have not been contacted by one of our volunteer callers or did not pre-set an appointment at our July blood drive and wish to donate, please contact our Scheduling Coordinator Nelda Klaustermeier at 320-864-3475. Walk-ins are also welcome, but be aware that scheduled appointments have priority over walk-ins. If you don’t have a Red Cross blood donor card, bring along a government issued photo ID (a valid driver’s license is the usual ID).
By the time you read this, Election Day will have come and gone. I am so looking forward to the end of the deluge of incessant political ads on TV. The barrage is mind-numbing. Sometimes you wonder if your choices on your one vote make any difference at all. What can one person do, really? But each ballot is important.
You have another choice you can make this month, where your decision can make a huge difference! By donating one unit of blood, you will help make a change in up to three other lives. Your donation may even save a life!
Help make this a season of Thanksgiving for all of the patients who are the recipients of your donation. Make one more choice — make the call — make a difference! Thank you.
