Good Shepherd Lutheran Church welcomes scout’s blessing box

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe now boasts a new piece of door bling in the name of feeding the hungry: Paul Sievert’s blessing box. The goal and purpose of the box come in two parts, according to Sievert. At just 15 years old, he wants to “...reach out to the community (to offer those in need a resource for food) and try to encourage the community to help one another,” Sievert said. “In the long-term, I want to encourage friendliness to your neighbors.”
It’s truly romantic — a project that benefits all parties. Good Shepherd receives a beautifully constructed wooden refuge to house non-perishable food for locals, the community gets motivation and perspective to offer help, Sievert is that much closer to obtaining his Eagle Scout rank in Scouts BSA (formerly called Boy Scouts), and locals in need of a free meal may be able to find it in the blessing box.
