Grapplers lose twice at MW tri

The Glencoe-Silver Lake/Lester Prairie wrestling team lost both of its matches at the Mound Westonka Triangular on Thursday, Jan. 31.
GSL/LP lost 33-27 to Orono and 37-27 to the host White Hawks in the team’s lone action of the week.
The Panthers held a 15-9 lead on the Spartans after five matches. Jace Cacka scored an 11-1 major decision at 120 pounds, followed by Sawyer Varpness’ win by fall at 126 and Carter Ruschmeier’s 18-3 technical fall at 132.
The lead ping-ponged back and forth in the middle weights with GSL/LP gaining six points at 152 on a forfeit win by Carter Ziegler and a win by fall from Cody Rae at 170.
However, Orono tied the score at 27-27 on a win by fall at 182 and took the six-point match victory on a win by forfeit at 195 before both teams forfeited at 220 and 285.
