Gridders even record at .500 with win at Delano

It didn't come as easily as Homecoming, but the Glencoe-Silver Lake football team clawed its way back to .500 by means of a gritty 16-13 victory at Delano on a cold and damp setting off Highway 12 on Friday, Oct. 7.

Much like the previous week, however, the Panthers had to rally from a first quarter deficit.

After both sides went three-and-out on their respective opening drives, the Tigers took their second possession 86 yards to seize a 6-0 lead on a 13-yard touchdown pass.

However, after initially making the extra point, Delano was penalized for a false start and the re-kick from five yards further away went for naught leaving the score at 6-0 in favor of the hosts.

GSL went for naught on a pair of second quarter possessions, driving the ball into the Tigers red zone twice, but coming up empty-handed.

But the Panthers struck at last in the final moments of the half as quarterback Luke Frahm hit tight end Kyle Christensen on a 47-yard touchdown as time expired in the second quarter to draw the visitors level at 6-6 following a failed extra point.
