Gridders head into Homecoming at 5-0
A dank evening in Watertown did not dampen the spirits of the Glencoe-Silver Lake football team improved to 5-0 with a 33-0 blanking of host Watertown-Mayer on Friday, Sept. 18.
While the Royals were able to keep the Panthers offense in check for the first half, the GSL defense was solid from start to finish in notching its second shutout of the season.
“The defense is playing well,” linebacker Tristan Weber said. “Every game we’re doing better.”
Early on, the W-M defenders were up to the task of keeping the game close, as the Panthers were unable to find the end zone until just over six minutes remained in the second quarter.
Multi-back Teddy Petersen gave the visitors all the points they ended up needing by means of a 40-yard touchdown run. It was the senior’s fourth rushing score of the season.
