Group begins setting course on downtown Glencoe’s revitilization
The potential future of downtown Glencoe was open for discussion Monday as the steering committee charged with planning a vision for the commercial district met for the first time.
The Oct. 15 meeting included representatives of businesses, residents and city staff. Breaking into groups, the participants discussed ideas on the types of amenities and additions they’d like to see in downtown Glencoe. The group will conduct a weekday walking tour of the downtown area in the next week. An open house for citizens and businesspeople is set for November.
This is not about producing a big, fat bible of downtown planning that’s going to sit on somebody’s desk,” said Bob Kost, a planner and urban designer with Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc.
