GSL varsity Knowledge Bowl wins home meet
On Saturday, Feb. 3, Glencoe-Silver Lake (GSL) hosted many of the Knowledge Bowl teams from Region 6 at GSL High School. Teams from Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (ACGC), Central Minnesota Christian School (CMCS), Hutchinson, Lac qui Parle Valley, Lester Prairie, MACCRAY, Montevideo, New London-Spicer, Renville County West, Willmar and Yellow Medicine East were all there.
GSL Varsity 1 won the varsity meet.
The 11 varsity and 15 junior varsity (JV) teams competed together, although each division received separate awards. This led to some interesting competitions. For instance, in round three, a JV team and a varsity team from GSL were competing together with a Hutchinson JV team in Room One. Several of the JV teams proved themselves to be excellent competitors.
In Room One, GSL’s Varsity 1 dominated, winning the room every round with scores of 23-8-4, 19-4-4, 22-7-2, and 23-7-6. They finished with a score of 136.0, and first place. This team included Jack Gepson, Austin Pinske, Brett Baumgarten and Jacob Reichow. During the meet they played against varsity teams from Renville County West (RCW), Yellow Medicine East (YME), and GSL, as well as JV teams from Hutchinson, New London-Spicer (NLS), and GSL.
