GSL School Board OKs levy request to voters
Deeming the request “necessary and expedient,” the Glencoe-Silver Lake School Board unanimously approved the amount it will ask voters to approve Nov. 5 when voters consider the district’s operating levy referendum.
The school board approved, with no public discussion Monday, Aug. 12, a request that voters OK an increase in general education revenue of $460 per adjusted pupil unit. The amount the district is requesting includes replacing the $176.88 per pupil levy set to expire next year and replace it with the larger amount. The request, if approved, includes a clause allowing the per-pupil funding to increase at the rate of inflation and be applicable for 10 years.
Since there are no state races on the ballot, voting throughout the GSL School District will take place at Glencoe City Center.
