GSL girls second in subsectional meet, sending several to Mankato
The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ track and field team will be sending multiple individuals over 11 events to the Section 2A championship meet in Mankato this Saturday after finishing second at the 2A Subsection 8 meet at Stevens Seminary Stadium on Thursday, May 23.
GSL qualified in four relay races: the 4x100-, 4x200- and 4x800-meter events. The 4x200 quartet of Ellie Sonju, Rhyan Herrmann, Malayh Metcalf and Emily Graupmann won the subsectional title with a time of one minute, 50.31 seconds.
The same squad took second in the 4x200 in a time of 1:50.31, with the 4x100 squad of Sonju, Herrmann, Graupmann and Erin Jaskowiak also placing second in 52.45 seconds.
Zoe Ruschmeier (18.08) and Holly Bandemer (18.10) qualified for Mankato by finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles, with Metcalf also qualifying with a fourth-place run of 2:32.52 in the 800-meter run.
