GSL girls win first conference contest
The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team served up a little buffet over the past week. Included in the stretch was a first conference win, a weather-postponed game, and a loss to an out-of-state team in St. Paul.
The week “began” with the postponement of home game against Dassel-Cokato due to icy conditions on Tuesday, Jan. 10. That game, which was meant to be the Panthers’ Wright County Conference West home opener, has been moved to Monday, Jan. 23.
Instead, GSL’s first game of the week became Friday, Jan. 13, at Litchfield. The Panthers showed little rust after their brief layoff in defeating the Dragons 81-68 for their first WCC West victory of the season.
“We had a great start and a lot of energy,” coach Jeff Monahan said. “Overall, it was just a real sharp game for us.”
