GSL Knowledge Bowl again captures Wright County Conference title

Glencoe-Silver Lake’s Knowledge Bowl team captured the Wright County Conference meet title for the fifth straight year Saturday.
Six other schools from Wright County Conference who compete in Academic Challenge activities came to GSL to see whose team is best. Teams from Annandale, GSL, Holy Family, Hutchinson, Litchfield, Waconia and Watertown-Mayer were here. Each school is allowed to bring up to three teams; a total of 17 teams compete.
GSL 1 started in first place with a written score of 52 and won all but one of the four oral rounds. Its competition in Room One included Holy Family every round, which was second in rounds one through three, but won round four 16-15. Annandale, Watertown-Mayer and Waconia also played for one or two rounds each in Room One. The scores were 18-12-6, 24-11-4, 16-11-7, and 15-16-6. GSL won the meet and the conference championship with a total of 131.0 points. Holy Family came in second with 104.0 points. Annandale was third with 88.5, while Watertown-Mayer was fourth with 85.0. The GSL team members were Jack Gepson, Austin Pinske, Brett Baumgarten, Jacob Reichow and Nathan Fehrenbach.
