Gymnasts fall to NL-S, look to sections

Despite falling to a quality New London-Spicer team, which neared the 140-point mark, the Panthers highlighted the day with one of its best performances of the season — if not the best. It was the most points the GSL gymnasts have scored all season.
“Overall, they did awesome. We had higher scores the entire night and came away with a new season high of 127.075,” Head Coach Kim Hahn said.
“Obviously their hard work ethic is paying off,” Hahn said, noting that her gymnasts have been implementing new skills that they’ve been practicing throughout the season.
Hahn also took time to reflect on the regular season: “Seeing (the younger girls) bonding with the upper-classmen,” was something Hahn enjoyed throughout competition and practice. She said having a group of seventh- and eighth-graders learning the ropes, seeing the difference between school and club gymnastics is a valuable experience, and the upper-classmen haven’t let the younger gymnasts down.
“I tell the girls: I may have a family at home, but for these three or four months, I have 20-plus daughters that I’m taking care of,” Hahn said.

Sections
With a full head of steam, coming off the highest-scoring meet of the season, Panthers’ gymnasts are preparing to host the sections meet, where they’ll compete as a team of five (with two alternates) as usual.
