Help turn Minnesota red at Republican caucuses

To the Editor:
Two years ago, voters with great passion flooded the 2016 Minnesota caucuses. Many precincts struggled to handle the record high attendance. This passion was duplicated nationwide, resulting in the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States. Additionally, Republicans retained majorities in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives.
In Minnesota, the Republican party regained the senate majority and increased their majority in the Minnesota House to the highest level in years.
In 2018, the Trump Train continues to roll in McLeod County. To get on board, we invite all supporters of the Republican Party to attend your caucus on Feb. 6. Help us to elect a Republican governor by attending and casting your vote in a straw poll, showing your preference from among the following Republicans running for governor:
• Keith Downey
• Mary Giuliani Stephens
• Jeff Johnson
• Lance Johnson
• Phillip Parrish
• Or still undecided
If you know of someone who desires to run for elected office in our local area in 2018, or anytime in the future, join us at this caucus and let us know! For many years, local candidates have asked for the support of our party and received it. Their signs have been posted at our county fair booth and they have received help with our proven get-out-the-vote initiatives. The sooner we know who would like to run for elected office the better. The filing date for many local offices ends on May 30. State office deadlines are even sooner.
In the Republican Party of Minnesota, planning starts with individuals bringing resolutions to their caucus, resolutions that request a change or addition to the party platform. If you have suggestions to improve our platform, bring them on Feb. 6. If you aren’t sure how the Republican platform differs from the Democrat platform, watch this video: tinyurl.com/Platform-MN. The full 2016 Republican Platform is at tinyurl.com/MN-GOP-Platform.
Help us elect conservative and fiscally responsible candidates by joining us on Feb. 6 at your caucus location. Your caucus location can be found at www.mcleodgop.com/cau
