Irene E. Hajicek, 91, of Hutchinson

Irene Elizabeth Hajicek, 91, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long-Term Care in Glencoe.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Nov. 18, at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson with the Rev. Jerry Meidl officiating. Bev Wangerin was the organist and Bobbi Ludewig was the song leader. Musical selections included “Be Not Afraid,” “Ave Maria,” “I Am the Bread of Life,” “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Pallbearers were Jim Ford, Roger Donnay, Alan Klobe, David Klobe, John Donnay and Kevin Donnay.
Interment was in the St. Anastasia church cemetery.
Irene Elizabeth Hajicek was born June 15, 1923, in Glencoe, the daughter of Herman and Josephine (Classen) Klobe. She was baptized as an infant on June 17, 1923, and confirmed on June 8, 1937, both at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe. She was educated in District 28, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Parochial School, and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School class of 1941.
On May 14, 1960, she was united in marriage to Virgil Hajicek at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Michael and Robert. Irene and Virgil Hajicek lived in Hutchinson until July 2013, when she moved to Glencoe. They shared 43 years of marriage before Mr. Hajicek’s death on Dec. 27, 2003.
Mrs. Hajicek was employed at the McLeod County Telephone Company in Glencoe as a bookkeeper for 19 years. After her marriage, she was the bookkeeper for the family business, Premium Distributing Company in Hutchinson. She attended St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson, where she was active in the CCW. She also was a member of the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary. She was appointed as a special minister of Holy Communion for Ministry to the Sick by the Diocese of New Ulm.
Mrs. Hajicek enjoyed bowling, playing cards, sewing, knitting and tending to her gardens. She and her husband loved to travel extensively. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (wife Mary Jo) Hajicek of Mound and Robert Hajicek of Minnestrista with Denise Anderson of Minneapolis; brother, Albin (wife Teddy) Klobe of Glencoe; sister, Delores (husband LeRoy) Donnay of Glencoe; sister-in-law, Jane Huncha of Delano; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Josephine Klobe; husband, Virgil Hajicek; sisters, Theresa Ford (and husband John), sisters-in-law, Shirley Hajicek and Georgia Hajicek; and brother-in-law, Val Huncha.
