It’s a whole new ballgame in CRVL
For at least the next two seasons, the Crow River Valley League (CRVL) will play baseball in a three-division format under a proposal that was ratified in mid-December’s league meeting.
The CRVL will expand from a north/south division format to three divisions – West, Central and North – featuring five teams apiece determined by geographical location.
“For a majority of teams in the league, it was something that they wanted,” Glencoe Brewers manager Stephen Wiblemo said. “This particular scenario wasn’t our top choice, but I’m not too upset about it.”
In the new alignment, the Brewers move from the CRVL North – which they shared with Winsted, Waconia, Watertown, New Germany, Mayer and St. Boni – and into the CRVL West.
The new CRVL West features the Brewers, the Hamburg Hawks, Brownton Bruins, Plato Blue Jays and Green Isle Irish. The latter two teams faced one another in the 2015 Class C State Tournament championship game. Hamburg was also a state qualifier.
“I was all for realignment, but was not in favor of this scenario,” Plato manager Adam Dammann said.
