It is time to head back to school again

To the Editor:

It’s hard to believe, but school is starting next week. All of us at GSL are ready for a great school year. I hope this letter finds our district members enjoying the last few days of summer. Just like in years past, summer seems to fly by, but (as the age old saying goes), “Don’t cry that it is over; smile that it happened!” I hope you can reflect upon a wonderful summer filled with many wonderful memories.

It is with great anticipation that this upcoming school year will be equally filled with great experiences and memories. It’s going to be a great year. With school starting, more kids are walking, biking, and on the roads. Please take extra time to get where you are going and keep a watch out for our students as they make their way to and from school.

Here is an update on the building project. Currently, we are in the design phase of this process. This will continue for the next couple of months. While we have the conceptual design of the building in place, we now need to get into the details. In the next month, we will be interviewing for a construction manager to facilitate the building process. With the scope of the project, this is a necessary part of the building process. Looking ahead, we hope to break ground in the spring of 2016, and we will open our doors in the fall of 2017. During this summer, one of our tasks is to put the details together on how we are going to use our buildings while school is in session. While there will be some obstacles with this, we are confident that it all will work out and we will have as normal of a school day as possible while the building is being constructed.

With that said, we are very excited about the future at GSL and look forward to our continued success here. We look forward to the start of a wonderful school year. Thank you all for being a part of GSL!
