Jail, courthouse project close to completion

McLeod County is working through an architect’s punchlist on its jail expansion and courthouse security project, the County Board heard at its Tuesday, Oct. 17, meeting.
Sam Lauer of Contegrity, the project management firm, said that most of the work was done by the board meeting, with the exception of the installation of the doors on the cells. Once those are installed and the electronic system for them is completed, the Department of Corrections can do one of its final walkthroughs.
As far as the exterior, Lauer said, the decorative panels were being installed on the canopies on the outside of the new entrance on the southeast sector of the building.
“That should be wrapped up by the end of the week,” said Lauer. “It will be pretty much a clean, finished building with not much left to do.”
Asked about when the new space can be occupied, Lauer said that will be up to the Department of Corrections after its inspections.
