James “Jim” Gilbert Lawrence, 73, of Hutchinson, died Sept. 28, 2015, at the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center in Minneapolis.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Oct. 5, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake with interment in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Silver Lake.
Jim Lawrence was born Oct. 30, 1941, to Gilbert and Evelyn (Swendra) Lawrence in South St. Paul. He moved with his family to Silver Lake. He married Joan Urban on May 21, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
He was a semi driver for Littfin Truss for 25 years. After his retirement, he continued to drive for his son-in-law, David. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence enjoyed camping with their family, especially their four granddaughters. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and loved to work on classic cars, most recently his 1966 Chevy.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joan Lawrence; children, Robert (Jeanne) Lawrence and Tammy (David) Pokornowski; granddaughters, Ashley, Allison, Emily and Katlyn; brothers, Gordon (Patty) Lawrence and Tom Lawrence; and sisters, Sharon Booth, Kathy (Harvey) Dvorak and Susie (Dave) Knoll.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Evelyn Lawrence; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Ruby Urban; niece, Gwen Campbell; nephew, Rich Mallak; and brothers-in-law, Robert Urban, Ron Booth and Roger Mallak.
