Janet Plihal
Janet M. Plihal, 74, of Hutchinson, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe.
 
A memorial service was held Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Faith Presbyterian Church in Silver Lake, with interment in Presbyterian Cemetery in Silver Lake.
 
Janet Plihal was born July 4, 1941, in Deer River, to Alfred and Helen (Buckho) Talberg. She grew up in Princeton, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist church. She attended and graduated from Princeton High School with the class of 1959. She married Kenneth Plihal on May 5, 1962, at the Methodist church in Princeton. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Connie, Cheryl and Brad. They shared 50 years of marriage. They made their home in Hutchinson, except for 17 years in Glencoe.
 
Mrs. Plihal worked in various occupations at Woolworth, day care, Green Giant, 3M, Nature Fresh and retired in 2005 from HTI. She enjoyed reading, baking, cooking and bird watching. She was very proud of her flower garden. She enjoyed her grandchildren and going to their activities, and she truly adored her great-grandchildren.
 
She is survived by her children, Connie Plihal of Glencoe, Cheryl (Chad) Moore of Conifer, Colorado, and Brad (friend Sue) Plihal of Glencoe; grandchildren, Nicholas (friend Domonque Hengel) Plihal, Tyler (friend Emily Hansen) Plihal and Travis Plihal; great-grandchildren, William Plihal, Brianna Plihal and Maisie Hansen; sisters, Carol (David) Travis of Renville, Pat Malcolm of Princeton and Phyllis Hilgart of Rogers; and nieces, nephews, many other family and friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Helen Talberg; husband, Kenneth Plihal; infant daughter, JulieAnn Plihal; infant sister; brother-in-law, Richard Malcolm; brother and sister-in-law, David “Butch” and Karen Susdorf; and nephew, Mike Susdorf.
 
Arrangements were with The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake.
