Jon VanDamme hired as municipal liquor store manager

The Glencoe City Council approved the administration’s recommendation to hire Jon VanDamme as manager for the Glencoe Municipal Liquor Store.
The city received seven applications after choosing to re-advertise the position as “liquor store manager” instead of “assistant liquor store manager.” City Administrator Mark Larson, Assistant City Administrator Dan Ehrke and City Finance Director Todd Trippel interviewed three of the seven applicants.
The city administration stated in its agenda item: “We make this recommendation after a great deal of time and consideration. We’re confident he’s the best candidate to lead the store and accomplish our growth strategies.”
At a previous meeting, the City Council had already approved the job description with the corresponding job points of 750 and a starting salary of $58,000.
Council Member John Schrupp moved to approve the recommendation to hire Jon VanDamme for liquor store manager position with a starting salary of $58,000. Council Member Cory Neid seconded the motion.
