Joyce Ann Beneke, 61, of Glencoe

Funeral services for Joyce Ann Beneke, 61, of Glencoe were held on Thursday, Aug. 18, from the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with the Rev. Ronald Mathison officiating.  Mrs. Beneke died on Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at her home.  Organist was Dawn Wolter, and soloist Jessica Green sang “Amazing Grace.” The congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “Jesus Lives, the Victory’s Won” and “I Know That My Redeemer Lives.”  Pallbearers were Quinn Beneke, Brett Beneke, Shannon Beneke, Nicole Dammann, Nathan Dammann and Chad Christensen. Interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery.  Joyce Ann Christensen was born to Willard and Lucille (Meyer) Christensen on Feb. 28, 1944, in Sleepy Eye. She was baptized on March 12, 1944, at the Church of St. Mary in Sleey Eye by the Rev. Collier. She received the sacraments of first communion and confirmation from the Church of St. Mary.  In the 1950s, the family moved to the Glencoe area. She graduated from Glencoe High School in 1962.  On Dec. 1, 1962, she was united in marriage with Jerome Beneke at the Church of St. Peter & Paul in Glencoe by the Rev. LeMay. The couple made their home in Minneapolis, Fargo, N.D., and Norwood before moving to Glencoe in 1973.  Mrs. Beneke was employed by 3M in Hutchinson for 33 years. She was a member of 3M’s emergency squad.  Mrs. Beneke enjoyed riding horses and attending horse shows, caring for animals, flower gardening and planting trees. She also loved caring for her children and grandchildren.  Survivors include her husband, Jerome Beneke of Glencoe; mother, Lucille Christensen of Glencoe; children, Quinn (Jolee) Beneke of Glencoe, Brett (Julie) Beneke of Glencoe, Shannon (Peggy) Beneke of Glencoe, Nikole (Nathan) Dammann of Hamburg; grandchildren, Blake Beneke, Mikayla Beneke, Lucas Beneke, Mitchell Beneke, Brittany Beneke, Garrett Beneke, Chauntaya Dammann and Felesha Dammann; brothers and sisters, Dennis (Sharon) Christensen of Glencoe, Mark (Janey) Christensen of Biscay, Louis Christensen of Lakeville, Paul (Mary Ann) Christensen of Glencoe, Timothy Christensen, Victoria Christensen of Mankato, Elizabeth (John) Winter of Glencoe, Mary (Derald) Bielke of Biscay; as well as many other relatives and friends.  Preceding her in death was her father, Willard Christensen.  The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
