Kenneth Earl Picha, 74, of Glencoe

Kenneth “Kenny” Earl Picha, 74, of Glencoe, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
 
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 20, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato with the Rev. Tyson Mastin officiating. Cheryl Andrix was the organist. Soloist Justin Rierson sang “In the Garden.” Congregational hymns were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
 
Honorary urn bearers were Amber Picha, Kayla Chapman and Abigail Kishish. Urn bearers were Zachary Picha, Tyler Picha, Connor Chapman, Paul Alberts, Randy Adams and Dave Uecker.
 
Kenneth “Kenny” Earl Picha was born Sept. 21, 1941, in Glencoe, the son of Edward and Christine (Lindholm) Picha. He was baptized as an infant on April 5, 1942, and was confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 29, 1955, both at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Glencoe. He graduated from Glencoe High School with the class of 1959.
 
On May 5, 1962, he was united in marriage to Karen Krohn at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato. The couple made their home in Glencoe, and their marriage was blessed with two children, Kendall and Kathy. They shared over 53 years of marriage.
 
Mr. Picha worked as a welder at Schwartz Manufacturing and then at Lester, Inc., as a trucker, retiring in 1996 after suffering a stroke. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato, where he served as a trustee on the education building project.
 
Mr. Picha enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, deer hunting, fishing and buildig things. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandson.
 
He is survived by his wife, Karen Picha of Glencoe; children, Kendall (Jean) Picha of Glencoe and Kathy “Kate” (CJ) Kishish of Hastings; grandchildren, Amber Picha and her fiancé, Mike Moen, Zachary Picha, Tyler Picha, Connor Chapman, Kayla Chapman and Abigail Kishish; great-grandson, Mason Moen; brother Ralph (Carol) Picha of Glencoe; sisters, Carol Adams of Glencoe and Marlys Schiller of Merrifield; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Christine Picha; brothers, Harvey and Lowell Picha; and grandchildren, Kelly Jo Picha and Luke Chapman.
