Kudos to Glencoe for its great city park system
To the Editor:
Just a quick kudos to the Glencoe Park Board, park employees, the City Council and, of course, the citizens of Glencoe for the fine park system and the camper sites which we can all enjoy in the fine city of Glencoe.
The weekend of Aug. 5-6, the descendants of Lars and Clara Ostlie held a family reunion at Oak Leaf Park in Glencoe. The 10 children of Lars and Clara are now gone, but their grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren of our family still have a reunion as often as we can. We had family from California, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Panama and, of course, good old Minnesota!
Our relatives could not believe the beautiful park system and shelter we enjoyed. They told us many times how lucky we were to have it. We had several of the Minnesota guests that used the camper sites and they were also impressed with how clean and nice everything was. We all enjoyed the use of the large central shelter that we rented, and there again, many, many compliments were heard.
So, thank you one and all, for the excellent planning of a great park system. Thanks, too, for the excellent care, mowing, trimming and cleaning that keeps our park beautiful and enjoyable to use.
