Lakeside teacher, daughter bring positive messages to school
There's no lack of enthusiasm for learning at Lakeside Elementary School in Silver Lake, and yet, there are portions of the building that were a bit drab.
Bathrooms, after all, can be that way.
This summer, Rosantina Aguilar and her daughter, Krystal, decided to spruce things up a bit. They hope the effort makes a big difference.
Last year, Lakeside Elementary Principal Joy Freitag and the school's secretary, Lori Hatlestadt, looked for a way to brighten up the school's restrooms. Their idea was to bring some bright color and positivity to the elementary school's six restrooms used by Lakeside Elementary's students. Their idea was to incorporate positive messages, phrases intended to encourage students with enhanced color.
“We just needed something to kind of spiff them up,” Freitag said.
