Langenfeld honored by chance to serve, new sheriff no fan of micromanagement
He recalls the text message from Scott Rehmann. In disbelief, Tim Langenfeld read a message from the sheriff informing him he planned to retire and wanted Langenfeld to finish his term.
Honored by the confidence his boss displayed, Langenfeld agreed. He allowed Rehmann to lobby on his behalf. It was a successful effort as the McLeod County Board favored appointing Rehmann’s chief deputy over advertising for a replacement, interviewing candidates and selecting someone.
