Litchfield thumps GSL boys’ cagers
A wellspring of good feelings from the 79-78 defeat of visiting Rockford on Monday, Feb. 1, evaporated entirely as the Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team was soundly defeated 63-49 by visiting Litchfield four nights later.
“We just weren’t moving, weren’t flowing,” coach Robb DeCorsey said. “It was the same way we’d been practicing all week.”
The Dragons got up early on the host Panthers and held off their hosts’ first-half attempts to rally before dominating the meaningful minutes of the second half en route to splitting the regular-season series against GSL.
Litchfield never trailed and led 14-8 midway through the opening stanza. The Panthers surged, cutting the lead to 21-19 on a four-point play from guard Teddy Petersen before heading to the locker room trailing 23-19.
“We were 7-of-14 from the free throw line in the first half and missed some wide open shots from the field,” DeCorsey said. “And with that, we were down four points.”
