Living Nativity planned at Oak Leaf Park Dec. 17

Plans for Glencoe’s Living Nativity are being finalized, and promises to offer another moving experience for viewers and participants alike.
The event is planned for Saturday, Dec. 17, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Oak Leaf Park in Glencoe.
There is a planning committee of about eight people for the event, but actually entails 60 to 70 total volunteers for everything from portrayal of Biblical characters to costuming, food and creating, setting up and taking down backdrops.
Lynn Exsted and Ted Stroming, two of the organizing committee members, said the Living Nativity started in 2012, and has been held every other year since then. Along with providing a memorable Christmas experience, the event collects donations of food and money for the McLeod Emergency Food Shelf.
In its first year, 2012, about 205 to 210 vehicles drove through the park to view the Living Nativity. In 2014, at least 500 people came through the nativity, and 700 pounds of food and $546 in cash donations were collected.
