Lois Evelyn (Schoenecker) Polzin, 85, of Glencoe, formerly of Brownton, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at her home in Grand Meadows Senior Living in Glencoe.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Nov. l7, at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with the Rev. Paul Schumacher officiating. Denise Lueders was the pianist, and Sue Mielke was the flutist. Song leaders were Teresa Kuester and Shari Templin. Musical selections were “Here I Am, Lord,” “You Are Mine,” “I Am the Bread of Life,” “Song of Farewell” and “Be Not Afraid.”
Honorary casket bearers were her great-grandchildren, Tenley and Broc Roberts, Landon and Teagan Littfin, Breckynn Lindeman, Claire, Graham and Valerie Lindeman, and Margo Weiers. Casket bearers were her grandchildren, Matthew Roberts, Tiffany Littfin, Mitchell Bulau, Justin Lindeman, Anthony Lindeman, Nicole Weiers, Brooke Kosek and Dalton Kosek.
Interment was in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Stewart.
Lois Evelyn (Schoenecker) Polzin was born July 19, 1932, in Meeker County, the daughter of Andrew and Emma (Johnson) Schoenecker. She was baptized as an infant, received first Holy Communion and was confirmed in her faith at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. She received her education in Eden Valley High School and graduated on June 2, 1950. She furthered her education by attending the College of Medical Technology, earning a degree as a medical technician on June 13, 1952.
On Oct. 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to Leroy “Corky” Polzin at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley. The couple made their home in Brownton, and their marriage was blessed with six children, Bruce, Douglas, Pamela, Patricia, Penny and Paige. They shared 56 years of marriage before Mr. Polzin died on March 20, 2012.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Polzin worked at the Brownton Medical Clinic, was a bus chaperone for DAC, and later cared for her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, participating in the Council of Catholic Women. After moving to Glencoe in 2012, she became a member of the Church of St. Pius X.
Mrs. Polzin was always strong in her faith and was a caring person. She loved angels and had a beautiful collection, which she treasured. She enjoyed reading, baking for her family, bowling, playing piano, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, word finds and playing games, which included marbles, 500, pinochle, UNO, Yahtzee and bingo. She also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and comedy shows that included Carol Burnett, Golden Girls, Mr. Bean and Benny Hill.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Polzin (special friend Ruth Ann Buck) of Arlington, Douglas Polzin of Brownton, Pamela (Steven) Roberts of Glencoe, Patricia (Kevin) Bulau of Glencoe, Penny (Kevin) Lindeman of Brownton and Paige (Robert) Kosek of Glencoe; grandchildren, Matthew (Kelly) Roberts of Glencoe, Tiffany (Jacob) Littfin of Green Isle, Mitchell Bulau of Glencoe, Justin (Angie) Lindeman of Brownton, Anthony (Laura) Lindeman of Brownton, Nicole (Jake) Weiers of Waconia, Brooke Kosek (special friend Chad Thompson) of Glencoe, and Dalton Kosek (special friend Hannah Wentzlaff) of Glencoe; great-grandchildren, Tenley and Broc Roberts, Landon and Teagan Littfin, Breckynn Lindeman, Claire, Graham and Valerie Lindeman and Margo Weiers; brother, Bob Schoenecker of Richmond; sisters, Betty Frei of Burnsville and Arleen LaHoud of Coon Rapids; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Emma Schoenecker; husband, Leroy “Corky” Polzin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Minnie Polzin; brothers, Jerome (and wife Julie) Schoenecker and Dave Schoenecker; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathleen and Fred Becker, Rose Ann and Clayton Lauer, Helen Jean and Gerald Meyer, and Theresa and Norbert Spaeth; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Fran Schoenecker, Erv Frei, Richard LaHoud and Dorothy and Charles Hahn.
