Long-time Brownton pastor moving on to a new church
The Rev. Andrew Hermodson-Olsen has been the pastor of Grace Lutheran Church since January 1999, a little over 19 years.
Some community members were somewhat shocked to learn that the long-time pastor had accepted a new call to serve First Lutheran in St. James. To Hermodson-Olsen, moving is just a natural step of life.
Hermodson-Olsen’s father also was a pastor and, growing up, the family was used to pulling up roots every few years.
“I just always assumed that at some point I would move,” said Hermodson-Olsen. “I’ve always felt that it was a positive and natural thing to move and start over again. You get a chance to meet new people, develop new relationships and have new experiences.”
Hermodson-Olsen had served two other churches prior to coming to Brownton.
One of the things that compelled him to accept the call to Grace was that the congregation was just finishing the process of putting up a new church building.
