Loretta A. (Fieber) Ide, 97, of Glencoe

Loretta Anna (Fieber) Ide, age 97, of Glencoe, passed away Saturday, Aug. 25 at her home in Orchard Estates in Glencoe. Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, Aug. 31, 3 p.m., at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, with interment following at the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe.
The Rev. Anthony Stubeda officiated the ceremony and Mary Ann Thalmann was the pianist. Denise Lueders was the songleader. The musical selections were “Here I Am Lord,” “Hosea,” “Hail Mary, Gentle Women,” “Song Of Farewell,” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Mrs. Ide’s grandchildren were the casket-bearers.
Loretta Anna (Fieber) Ide was born April 23, 1921, at her home in Helen Township, McLeod County. She was the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Groenniger) Fieber. Mrs. Ide was baptized as an infant April 27, 1921 and later confirmed in her faith as a youth both at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe. She received her education in Glencoe, graduating with the Glencoe High School Class of 1938. She attended Calhoun Secretarial Business College in Minneapolis.
Dec. 3, 1941, Loretta was united in marriage to Wilmer Ide at St. Thomas College in St. Paul. Loretta and Wilmer made their home in Glencoe. Their life was blessed with four children, Jerome, Ed, Greg, and Annette. Loretta and Wilmer shared over 32 years of marriage until Wilmer passed away Feb. 19, 1974.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Ide first worked as a stenographer at the office of the county highway engineer in Glencoe. She worked for the Glencoe School District as a cook for 16 years, retiring in 1986. Mrs. Ide was a lifetime member of Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, serving as president of the Council of Catholic Women and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Aid and St. Francis Mission Club. She was the president of the Saint Ann’s Society and a member of four card clubs, bridge, Pinochle, Sheephead and 500. Mrs. Ide volunteered at the Glencoe Area Health Care Center in the gift shop and in the beauty shop cutting men’s hair. She also volunteered at the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was a dedicated senior citizen and she made it to the community room every Tuesday and Thursday for years.
Mrs. Ide enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, quilting, embroidery, crocheting, and playing cards. Many weekends were spent entertaining and fishing at the cabin on Big Swan Lake. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Mrs. Ide is survived by her sons, Jerome Ide and his wife, Judy, of Glencoe, Ed Ide and his wife, Diane, of Glencoe, Greg Ide of Minneapolis; daughter, Annette Koester and her husband, Duran, of Glencoe; grandchildren, Julie Neuhaus and her husband, Barret, Jackie Ide, Natalie Ide, Alexis Klassen and her husband, Troy, Adrian Koester, Essex Koester, Trevor Koester, Mariah Koester; great-grandchildren, Erica Neuhaus, Avery Klassen, Chase Klassen, Ellie Klassen, Jorie Klassen;
nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Ide was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Fieber; husband, Wilmer Ide; brothers, Raymond Fieber, Ralph Fieber.
