Marie Wanous, 95, rural Hutchinson

Marie Catherine Wanous, 95, of rural Hutchinson, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at her residence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 28, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake. The Rev. Paul Schumacher will be the celebrant and Alice Nowak will be the organist.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at The Maresh Funeral Home in Silver Lake, and will continue Thursday, Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., also at the funeral home.
Honorary casket bearers are Katia Frock, Miles Giehtbrock, Ellen Giehtbrock, Kiersten Giehtbrock, Allison Wendlandt, Alexis Wendlandt, Aleigh Wendlandt, Maren Frock and Grayson Frock.
Casket bearers are Sean Andreasen, Erik Andreasen, David Giehtbrock, Corey Wendlandt, Brent Wendlandt and Ryan Wendlandt.
Interment will be in the Bohemian National Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Marie Catherine Wanous was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Glencoe, the daughter of Frank and Frances (Klobe) Donnay.
On Oct. 11, 1945, Marie C. Donnay and Howard E. Wanous were joined in holy marriage in Silver Lake. God blessed their marriage with three daughters.
Marie and Howard Wanous engaged in dairy farming in Rich Valley Township for many years. They also raised hogs and sheep.
She enjoyed sewing, baking, crossword puzzles, reading and gardening.
She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Silver Lake, and belonged to the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) and the Rosary Society. She was formerly a member of the Silver Lake Lions Club.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Geraldine (Daniel) Giehtbrock of Hutchinson, Nancy (Richard) Hahn of Cambridge and Kathleen (John) Andreasen of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Joanne Schmeling of Glencoe; a sister-in-law, Leona Donnay of Glencoe; and a brother-in-law, Leonard Noga of Glencoe; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard E. Wanous; her parents, Frank and Frances Donnay; and 11 brothers and sisters.
