Marvin C. Peterson, 80, of Silver Lake

Marvin “Gypsy” Ceciel Peterson, 80, of Silver Lake, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017.
Visitation and a memorial service are set for Wednesday, Sept. 13 (today), with visitation and gathering of family and friends at noon, and the memorial service at 1 p.m., at the Church of the Holy Family, 700 Main St. W, Silver Lake. The Rev. Anthony Stubeda will officiate.
Marvin Ceciel Peterson was born March 4, 1937, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, to Laverne and Geneva “Jen” Peterson. He married Clare Ann “Rice” Hill in 1975, and together they raised their family in Silver Lake. First and foremost, he was a devoted husband and father. Self-educated through life’s experiences, everything he learned he never forgot. His life’s path led him to owning a junkyard and working on all types of vehicles, logging in Montana, building roads, construction work, to finally owner-operator of his trucking company.
Mr. Peterson was a very unique person, which whomever had the pleasure of meeting him would tell you. His laughter and voice were undeniable and would send a warm feeling over all who heard. His rough exterior didn’t match his inner softness that will forever be remembered. The love and bond each shared with him were as unique as they were special. His life’s trials and tribulations he endured echoed in the way he lived his life. His unconditional love and wisdom, which he passed on to each and everyone, is priceless. He was loved and adored by all who knew him and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Jen Mulyck; loving sisters, Joy Dell and Darlene and Jim Harris; loving children, Rick Peterson, Mike Peterson, Tom Peterson, Steve Peterson, Joe Hill, John Hill, Jim and Lisa Hill, Susan and Shawn Abrams and Teresa and Derek Anderson; along with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clare Ann Peterson; father, Laverne Peterson; son, Jon Peterson; sister, Marlene Mulyck; brother, Vern Peterson; grandson, David Peterson; and other loved ones.
Flowers and condolences may be sent to the Church of the Holy Family, 700 Main St. W, Silver Lake, MN 55381.
