Maynard E. Grenke, 95, of Glencoe

Maynard E. Grenke

Maynard E. Grenke, 95, of Glencoe passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, at his residence in Glencoe.
Funeral service was Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2 p.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 925 13th St. E., in Glencoe with Rev. Daniel Welch as officiant.
Visitation was Monday, 4-7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service all at the church. Interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
Maynard Earl Grenke was born Sept. 17, 1923 in Glencoe Township, the son of Emil and Edith (Bethke) Grenke. Mr. Grenke and his twin sister, Mildred, were the youngest of the family of five. He was baptized Oct. 14, 1923, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by Rev. E. Kolbe and later confirmed his faith at First Evangelical Lutheran Church April 10, 1938 by Rev. Streufert. Mr. Grenke attended the District 60 country school. On Oct. 30, 1946, he was united in marriage with Geraldine Kirchoff at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Streufert as officiant.
Mr. Grenke enjoyed farming and fishing his entire life. He also enjoyed spending time in his shop repairing and working with metal and wood. Mr. Grenke had made many ice spears, ice chisels, jiggle sticks and built three houses. He loved spending time outdoors and being in his garden.
Mr. Grenke is preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Edith Grenke; twin sister, who also lived into her 90s, Mildred (Harold) Lindemann; sisters, Alice Grenke, Gladys (Art) Becker; brother, Leonard (Esther) Grenke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Maynard and Norma Kirchoff.
Maynard is survived by his loving family: wife, Geraldine Grenke; daughter, Carol (Jack) McMullin; grandchildren, Christopher J. McMullin, Whitney A. McMullin; sister-in-law, LuAnn Kirchoff; nieces and nephews, Veryl (Carol) Becker, Sharel (Dale) Hoops, Lyle Grenke, LaDonna (Dale) Stuber, Marilyn (Clinton) Rettig; Larry (Edna) Lindemann, Joann (Randy) Brockoff, Norma (Wayne) Schauer, Fred Lobitz; great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Serving as casket-bearers were Larry Lindemann, Fred Lobitz, Dale Hoops, Lyle Grenke, Ron Kirchoff, Kevin Koralewski, Bill Schwarze, Veryl Becker, and Mitch Ortloff.
