McLeod Co-op Power completes solar project
McLeod Co-op Power Association, along with its wholesale power supplier Great River Energy, have installed a 20-kW solar array at the cooperative’s headquarters site in Glencoe. The solar array – which generates electricity through panels made by Bloomington-based tenKsolar – was energized Friday, May 22.
The 41-kilowatt direct current community solar project owned by McLeod Co-op Power also began producing energy on the May 22. Energy from both arrays will power member homes and businesses in the immediate area. Energy produced by the community solar project is owned by co-op members who have subscribed to the project.
“We are happy to have this solar project installed in our service territory,” said Carrie Buckley, general manager of McLeod Co-op Power Association. “Our members will benefit from the solar output as we, along with Great River Energy, learn about the performance of solar with this local project.”
