McLeod For Tomorrow plans Glow Run

The McLeod For Tomorrow leadership program is planning a “Glow Run” for Sept. 19. Details about the run can be found in a news brief in this issue of The Chronicle.
We cannot say enough good things about this program. Two of our McLeod Publishing staffers are alumni of the program.
McLeod For Tomorrow offers a leadership program for one day each month September through May of each year. Half of the day is spent on leadership training, the other is spent out and about in the county. Each month finds the seminar in a different community within the county, giving participants a chance to see and experience different areas of the county.
Alumni of the 7-year-old program are nearly unanimous in their glowing reviews of the training offered, as well as the education they receive about their home area. Many express surprise that there is so much being offered in McLeod County.
The program is so popular with participants that its steering committee has expanded it to include both youth and graduate components.
The program’s newest cycle will start in September and will feature the Stewart and Brownton communities, as well as leadership skill training on the “Beginning the Leadership Journey.”
There is a cost to attend, of course, and potential participants are welcome to contact Mary Jo Wieseler at 320-864-1320 for more information. Participants must be residents of McLeod County, or employed within the county.
For many years, the program has been subsidized by the University of Minnesota Extension and McLeod County. As it seeks to expand its scope, a winter fundraiser, Winterfest, was established. That will be supplemented by the Glow Run. It is the hope that the program will become self-supporting.
We encourage your support of this worthwhile leadership program, whether as a participant or an attendee at the Winterfest or the Glow Run.
Our county is better because of the efforts of this program. Hats off to both the program and its steering committee.
